He was the bassist on some of the first records that made me a jazz fan (Ornette Coleman's The Shape Of Jazz To Come and Free Jazz, and Pat Metheny's 80/81) and more recently I discovered the great records Keith Jarrett's quartet with Haden, Paul Motian and Dewey Redman .
